Active Early Learning Curriculum

Harmony Early Learning Journey have implemented the Active Early Learning (AEL) Curriculum as one of the core features of its curriculum.

We embed physical literacy into every day at Harmony, to help your child build the movement skills, motivation and confidence to seek out and enjoy a physically active lifestyle now and in the future.

Here at Harmony, we’re proud to adopt the Active Early Learning (AEL) curriculum – developed in partnership by University of Canberra, Deakin University and the Australia College of Physical Learning – as one of the core features of our curriculum.

How Active Early Learning may benefit your child:

  • Increased ability in fundamental movement skills building confidence, self-esteem and enjoyment across a range of physical activities.
  • Significant improvements in vocabulary and communication.
  • Improvement in cognitive learning which includes memory and problem solving.
  • Improvements in social behaviour such as teamwork, sharing and negotiation.
  • Higher levels of engagement both in and out of the studios enabling the building of friendships and the ability to play together in small groups.
  • Improvements in the ability to concentrate and focus on each task, an important requirement for school.
  • Promotes development of stronger muscles and joint, reduction of cardiovascular disease risk factors, increased vocabulary skills and cognitive behaviour

How does it work?

The AEL curriculum builds physical literacy into the day, either via short transition sessions which happen daily, or longer dedicated movement sessions focused on building physical and other skills via engaging play-based activities.

Physically literacy is about so much more than ‘being active’ and ‘fit’. A physically literate child has the movement skills, motivation and confidence to seek out and enjoy a physically active lifestyle now and in the future.

Is there any additional cost?

The curriculum and activities are all included in every three to five year old standard daily fees. There are no additional costs.
