Centre Director East Brisbane

Hi, I’m Michaela Butler

Let me introduce myself…

I have been with Harmony since 2018, working with the Yarrabilba and Greenslopes teams and now at East Brisbane. I am a mum of three boys and a baby girl and love to get out to explore with them on the weekend. Our many adventures together include bike riding, parks and picnics, theme parks and visiting family. My husband and I look forward to travelling the world with them and immersing ourselves in new cultures and experiences. We were lucky enough to take our (then) three children with us to Japan at the beginning of 2020. This has been a topic of conversation often brought up as they re-live their experiences. I love food, and dream about stepping outside of my comfort zone and trying a new dish…. I usually order the same thing on the menu when I go out.

Why I’m passionate about early childhood education?

I am committed to ensuring all children are given every opportunity life has to offer them. I believe expanding children’s knowledge early on sets them up for success, so that they are able to reach their full potential. To know that I made a difference in their journey whether that be big or small is really what I love about what I do.

What I love about Harmony East Brisbane?

I love the riverside feeling of the East Brisbane area and particularly the beautiful building which houses our centre….blending heritage elements with new, modern additions. The area has a strong connection with its local community which is important for the children and their families. The Harmony East Brisbane centre also has the advantage of being conveniently located near the city without being in the city.

A few of my favourite things

  • Favourite Colours: I love the colours dusty blue and dusty pink
  • Favourite Animal: Giraffes are my favourite animal; I can’t really tell you why. There is something about their height seeing over everything in their path.
  • What I find funny? I’m a sucker for corny dad jokes, though I only have a couple up my sleeve

What are my likes and dislikes?

Dislikes

  • flies, they are disgusting in so many ways
  • heights
  • roller coasters that make me feel like my stomach will rise out of my chest

Likes

  • wearing colours, you will not see me in black very often
  • Singing and Christmas carols especially
  • Disney movies

I look forward to getting to know you and your child.
