The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government initiative designed to reduce the cost of child care for eligible families. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, activity levels, and the type of child care you use.
The subsidy is paid directly to your child care provider, meaning you’ll only need to cover the remaining out-of-pocket fees.
To be eligible for CCS, you must:
✔ Be using an approved child care service
✔ Meet the residency and immunisation requirements
✔ Have a household income below the upper CCS threshold
✔ Be engaged in recognised activities (such as work, study, or volunteering)
The CCS is designed to:
✔ Support parents and carers to return to work, study, or volunteering
✔ Make early learning more affordable and accessible
✔ Give more children the benefits of quality early education, helping them develop school-readiness and lifelong skill
