Child Safety at Harmony

At Harmony, the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every child in our care is our highest priority.

Child safety isn’t just a policy. It’s part of our identity. From the way our spaces are designed to the way our people are trained, we embed safety into every moment of the day. Families trust us because we take our role seriously, act with transparency and lead with care.

Our Approach to Child Safety and Emotional Wellbeing

At Harmony, children’s safety, wellbeing and emotional security are never negotiable. They are the foundation of everything we do.

We are deeply committed to creating environments where every child feels safe, respected, understood and supported to thrive. Our approach to behaviour guidance is intentional, evidence‑informed and grounded in a strong understanding of child development, emotional regulation and respectful relationships.

We believe children learn best when they feel emotionally safe. Behaviour is not something to be controlled, but understood and guided with care, consistency and professionalism.

What This Means for Your Child

At Harmony, you can expect that:

  • Children are always treated with kindness, dignity and respect, even during moments of challenge or distress
  • Educators seek to understand the meaning behind behaviour, rather than labelling or judging children
  • Behaviour is viewed as communication, helping us understand a child’s needs, emotions or unmet skills
  • Children are supported to develop emotional regulation, problem solving, resilience and empathy
  • Responses are calm, consistent, age‑appropriate and grounded in best practice, helping children feel safe and secure

Our Commitment to Emotional Safety

Emotional safety is just as important to us as physical safety.

We are committed to creating environments where children:

  • Feel emotionally safe, secure and confident to express themselves
  • Are never shamed, threatened, frightened or embarrassed
  • Are supported through big emotions with patience, empathy and care
  • Feel heard, valued and understood as individuals

This commitment is actively protected through strong leadership oversight across all Harmony centres.

Child Safety and Wellbeing Leadership

At Harmony, our commitment to children’s safety and wellbeing is strengthened by dedicated leadership oversight.

Harmony appoints a Child Safety and Wellbeing Advocate whose sole focus is to protect, uphold and continuously strengthen emotionally safe, respectful and child centred practice across all our centres.

This role exists to ensure that child safety and wellbeing are not just values, but lived standards in every interaction, every day.

What This Means for Your Family

Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Advocate:

  • Provides expert oversight of behaviour guidance and emotional safety practices across all centres
  • Ensures Harmony’s practices are aligned with current research, best practice and child development knowledge
  • Strengthens educator practice through purpose led learning and hands on coaching, informed by insights from our people to support child safety, wellbeing and quality outcomes
  • Supports educators and leaders to respond to children with professionalism, empathy and confidence, especially during times of emotional distress or challenge
  • Monitors, reviews and strengthens child safety frameworks, policies and daily practice
  • Champions children’s voices, dignity and rights in all decision making

Why This Matters

Having a dedicated Child Safety and Wellbeing Advocate means families can be confident that Harmony:

  • Holds itself to standards that go beyond compliance
  • Actively protects children’s emotional security and sense of belonging
  • Ensures consistency, professionalism and accountability across all centres
  • Does not leave emotionally safe practice to chance, individual style or interpretation

At Harmony, children’s safety, wellbeing and emotional security are protected by design, supported by leadership and embedded into every aspect of our practice.

Your child’s wellbeing is not just our priority. It is our responsibility.

Working in Partnership with Families

We believe the strongest outcomes for children come from genuine partnerships with families.

When behaviour‑related concerns arise, we are committed to:

  • Open, respectful and transparent communication
  • Strengths‑based, child‑focused conversations
  • Working collaboratively with families to understand and support each child
  • Ensuring families feel informed, supported and confident in our approach

Leadership, Training and Accountability

Every educator at Harmony is responsible for upholding emotionally safe, respectful practice.

Our leadership team provides ongoing training, coaching and oversight to ensure behaviour guidance practices are consistent, professional and aligned across all centres. Expectations are clear, support is provided, and accountability is maintained.

This is not optional. It is a shared responsibility and a core standard of care at Harmony.

Your child’s safety, wellbeing and sense of belonging will always come first.

What Sets Harmony Apart

Every Educator is a Mandatory Reporter

Our teams are trained to recognise and respond to any concerns, and we follow clear, immediate reporting pathways without exception.

Hands On Leadership in Every Centre

Each service is supported by an active leadership team who are present in studios, oversee supervision and ensure high standards are upheld throughout the day.

'See It, Say It' Culture

Children, educators and families are encouraged to speak openly. We foster a culture of trust, where concerns can be shared and responded to with care and respect.

Ongoing Child Protection Training

All educators complete comprehensive child protection training before starting. Annual refreshers and partnerships with Bravehearts support our team and the children in their care.

Team Based Supervision

Children are never left alone with a single educator. We work in teams to ensure supervision is visible, consistent and accountable.

Designed for Visibility and Safety

Our centres are built with open sightlines, glass doors and discreet viewing panels to support safe supervision. CCTV operates in key areas to assist leadership oversight.

Rigorous Recruitment and Vetting

We carefully screen every person who works at Harmony. We verify qualifications, check references, confirm Working with Children Checks and deliver full induction training before any educator begins.

Clear Conduct Expectations

All staff and visitors follow our Code of Conduct, which sets the tone for respectful, safe and professional behaviour across our services.

Balanced and Inclusive Practices

All educators are supported to follow clear boundaries and transparent practices, including additional safeguards for one on one care and intimate hygiene routines.

Partnership with Families

We work in partnership with families, communicating openly, sharing updates and welcoming conversations about how we can best support each child.

A Culture of Safety, Every Day.

We don’t just talk about safety—we live it. Through strong leadership, trusted relationships, and deeply embedded systems, Harmony centres are places where children are safe, seen and supported.

Thank you for choosing Harmony. Your child’s safety is our constant focus.
